Fixing a Dead Lenovo C930 with C920 Firmware (CYPD4226 Repair)

The failed USB-C Power Delivery controller in this Lenovo Yoga C930 laptop repair is a Cypress CYPD4226. After component replacement, the ultimate challenge became finding compatible firmware and restoring full USB-C and Thunderbolt functionality.

A Lenovo Yoga C930 came into the shop completely dead with a burned USB-C Power Delivery (PD) controller. Replacing the physical controller chip was only the beginning of this repair—the real challenge was restoring full system functionality without access to the original factory firmware.

In this video, I show the complete component-level diagnostic process, removal and micro-soldering replacement of the PD controller, testing with alternative firmware from a Lenovo Yoga C920, attempts to recover the original firmware using a CY8CKIT-059 programmer, and the hardware modifications required to restore charging, USB data functionality, and Thunderbolt support.

This is a real board-level repair journey including failed attempts, deep troubleshooting, and firmware investigation—not just a polished, final successful result.

Pioneer Kuro KRP-500A plasma TV stuck with the famous 8 blue lights fault? In this repair video I diagnose and repair the KRP-M01 media receiver board by replacing failed 1.8V regulators and reworking the DisplayPort IC area and nearby components.

This repair turned into a much larger job than expected because the KRP-M01 disassembly is a nightmare on its own, so the full teardown, diagnosis, board repair, reassembly and testing are included in the video.

The fault was causing the media receiver to fail startup with the 8 blue lights error. After replacing the faulty regulators and retouching the DP IC area, the system powers on normally again.
